The INSTEON development kit provides the documentation, software and hardware necessary to develop INSTEON based home monitoring and management software applications. Development support is available for both the enthusiast as well as the professional developer. As an INSTEON developer, your INSTEON software applications may be distributed through Smarthome or may be offered as shareware at INSTEON.net to thousands of electronic home improvement professionals and enthusiasts.

Documentation

The development kit includes a downloadable version of the Developer's Guide and all software providing the specific information required to develop applications to control INSTEON enabled devices.

Hardware

Each development kit contains a network interface module (PowerLinc V2 Serial or USB) and a test module (LampLinc V2). Additional test modules may be purchased separately. Also available is the INSTEON prototyping module which provides the development hardware necessary to develop INSTEON-enabled products.

Membership

Each kit includes membership in the INSTEON development community; providing password access to the development forum, as well as http://code.insteon.net. Also included is an invitation to join the INSTEON Alliance program.

Support

SmartLabs provides a comprehensive set of development support services including email and consulting services. Every development kit includes one free support email ($30.00 value). Additional support services can be purchased through the INSTEON developers web site.
